FahrRadWinter Muenchen

Greetings fellow Bike-Geeks!

We here in munich, in our continuous effort to promote bicycle awareness propose "fahrrad winter", 31 days of bike and bike related events through out the city and beyond. All events and festivities are open to all who are interested in the bike community.

Planning is also encouraged, so if you have an idea, if you have something to offer like ideas, spaces, etc... then this is the time to do so. All are encouraged to plan an event and post it here. "D.I.Y!!!" (Do It Yourself) Anything goes: artshows, films, grouprides and races, parties, shows, community meetings, workshops; the possibilitys are endless. Use your imagination and be creative... think about all the things that are not happening here (in munich) and make them a reality. There is no "organizer's table", basically its up to you to get together with like minded people and just do it!

Make new friends and meet new people who all share common interest and, of course, a common passion-even love-for bikes and cycling.

BMX, MTB, Fixie, Road bike, Kinder Cycling, Monster Bikes, City Bike/Commuter, Trial Bike, Lowriders and Customs, "Unicycles", Trikes... Ride'em!

Messengers and Bicycle Laborers converge.

All welcomed to show up and show solidarity with some of the hardest working locals around. As a token of appreciation, various local businesses have donated a start-up fund for some beer and simple snacks.

Lötzsch war das wohl größte Radsporttalent der DDR, der leider dem Politischen System zum Opfer viel. Nach dem Film kann man noch mit der Reggiseurin diskutieren. Karten (5€) kann man bestellen unter Tel.: 089/82929079. Wer die Pasinger Fabrik nicht kennt, man sich da auch noch zusammensetzen was trinken und ratschen. Die S-Bahn Station ist in unmittelbarer Nähe.

"The Battle for Bavaria"-100mi/160km race
Start Location: at the Flaucher, on the east side of the river (Isar) at the wooded padestrian bridge. (in between brudermuhl strasse and thalkirchen... google it!)
registration day of event. entry-10 euros.
meet up and registration from 9am to10:30am
event starts at 11am sharp!!!

Prizes for male 1st, 2nd, and 3rd... female 1st and 2nd.
Overall first place (male or female) will automatically take half of the registration cash!
Overall first place (female or male) will take a quarter of the registration cash!
(in other words, both male and female first place takes the cash, but maybe a female wins first overall so she would get the bigger cash pot or the other way around!)

description: For all riders who dare. the event will operate with various check points. at each check point, you will recive an "idiot proof" map with the route to the next check point. Starting in munich, piecing a giant circle through the bavarian country side and ending back in munich.

current stipulations/rules: 1) all participants MUST stay on the designated route, the route leads you from one check point to the next and at each check point you will recive a stamp on a provided manifest, ALL stamps must be aquired in order to win and place accourdingly. Plus your going to need to collect the next map to know where your going next! 2) somewhere after 80km, at a designated check point, there will be a MANDATORY 1hour stop, for hydration - quick rest - food- bike check up - toilet - etc... all participants will then restart in the order and time as they arrived. 3) There are NO support vehicals, you will need to provide your own nesecitys; tools, inner tubes, water (durring the actual riding), the approiprate clothing (rain gear, warm stuff, etc...), etc... 4) Good sportsmanship, riders in front will know if you never passed them and your suddenly ahead of them or got stamps before them. Keep it clean, honest and fun. 5) If you get stopped by the cops... Automatic disqualification for any written "tickets"; you need to report this. You can continue for fun BUT you are disqualified. (please see rule 4)

finally: to avoid any cheating or uneven preperation, the actual check points, routes, and finish line, will NOT be announced untill the day of the event. the finish line will be the location to the events after party. Award ceremony, prizes and give-a-ways, a beer, etc... to take place there.

Also: complementry water, coffee, tea, snacks, and nick-nacks at start and check points.

group ride/fun ride from munich (germany) to linz (austria)

This is coordinated by richard c. of "riding high", pennyfarling bike maker.

As advertised, FAHRRADWINTER is taking you this Saturday on a

Winterreise by bicycle to our sister city of Linz. Together we will

fly East through 250 km (155 miles) across Bavaria and upper Austria,

skimming north of the alps, and south of the Danube. In Linz we shall

be hosted by our comrades at the KAPU. We will return on Sunday,

by bus or by train.

This will be a chance to break the trail between our two cities and

forge links with the bike scene in Linz. We know that a bike kitchen

has been started; there are rumours of monster-bikes. Now is the time

to unite.

Every good rider with some experience of distance should join us.

Long-distance, German-weather veterans Richard and Rafael will guide us.

Our route goes through Wasserburg, Burghausen and Ried. Check out

the line on googlemaps through the link at the end of this mail.

There are still two options for the ride.

(1) We set off around 7pm Friday night, ride 120km (75m), camp on the

border at Burghausen, ride 130km (80m),

and arrive at Linz early Saturday afternoon.

The ride will be much easier, but we shall need to bring good sleeping bags.

(We know that there are heated basements in Burghausen,

accessible to renegade travellers, but we cannot depend on them.)

(2) We set off at dawn (7am) Saturday, and ride the stretch in one go.

Averaging 25km/h, with 3 hours for breaks, we shall arrive in Linz

around 8pm.
